News
The West Sussex Hate Incident Support Service, provided by Victim Support, has recently launched an Easy Read Form to encourage the reporting of Disability Hate Crime in West Sussex. This is when a crime has occurred because of the victim’s perceived or actual disability. The support service hopes that those affected by this type of hate crime will use the form to report these incidents so they do not continue to suffer in silence. Full story here.
Any disabled person can report a hate crime anonymously on the True Vision website. The Government has announced an action plan to tackling all hate crime which recognises the importance of challenging the attitudes and behaviours that foster hatred, and encouraging early intervention to reduce the risk of incidents escalating. Police recorded hate crimes will be published as national statistics for the first time this summer.
